Dove in the Delph today for the first time  . The staff in the Reception ,filling station, and the cafe were all very friendly

This was my first dive after qualification and i thought the venue was excellent

It was to me a very busy day but with all the entry points there was no congestion

Lots of the other divers were very friendly which made me feel more at ease

looking forward to my next visit

I've dived the Delph about 20 times over the past 5 years or so and yes the viz used to soup at best but we still found it a very useful training water and well thought out. The Viz has improved over the years and last year I could see half the length of the cruiser while at 12M which I think rather good. The staff don’t great you with over the top friendliness and false smiles. I like to think they’re weighing you up to see if you’re a numpty or not. A truly British trait. Either way they are very professional and quick with decent fills too. There’s something just nice and personal about this place. Something that Capernwray and Stoney don’t have.

I passed my Open water course while doing 4 dives in Depth. It was my first time Scuba Diving I found it fascinating the amount of great wrecks and cars in the quarry was great. I also enjoyed swimming amongst all the fish. Great dive site looking forward to going back.

Dived today ( 7/11/10 ) and have to say, the vis was exactly what i expected, Capen quality :) Water was 12 degrees and well, its a proper little dive spot. Look, we are in the UK and none of us should expect crystal blue waters. Quite a busy sunday afternoon with no choke points of entry, lots of in's and out's, perefct for student and diver. All in all 7/10 :)..

Southport BSAC have a corporate membership for the Delph, best thing we every did. it makes it easier to go diving, the Delph is our local dive site and its ideal for practising and training. the food is excellent and even John can be loveable at times!

Been down here many times recently (May 2010) and there are some obvious improvements but you need to keep the website updated. Quarrt temp has been stuck at 10 degrees since Nov 2008!

Eccy Delph, lovely location, great dives, fantastic food! First time diving here a couple of weeks ago and was impressed. It felt like being part of the Delph 'family' rather than just being a number at other dive sites... Keep up the good work, will definately be back soon!

I've heard a fair bit of bad Rep regarding Delph Dive Centre, ranging from bad viz to poor location, none of which is correct. It was the first time I dived there yesterday and I was very impressed. The Dive location itself is excellent, very well laid out with various entry and exit points, features in the water are what can be seen on the attractions list on the site, and they are quite good, and for those who have little or no faith in a compass, there are rope-ways between the attractions, which obviously you don't have to follow if you don't want to. So, as far as the the quarry and the location is concerned, it's great, my only complaint is that I was expected to pay £5 for a 300bar 12 litre air fill. Although the website states that it fills to 300bar, it's an expensive fill to say the least. As long as you're on a 232bar cylinder though, fill your boots, I'll sure be going back again in the future.

Bloke from Nottingham

Spent the last weekend at The Delph, it's the place I go to chill out, had five great dives & the vis was great both Saturday and Sunday. For me there's nothing like swimming in the shallows feeding the fish. It's always such a shame when Sunday afternoon comes around far too quickly...

Saturday, 02 May 2009

Happy Diver

Dived The Delph 25/04/09 and the viz was excellent, final dive in the shallows has to be one of the most relaxing dives amongst the scholes of fish, many thanks for a great day.

I have recently completed my Open Water Dive course at the Delph with Tony and Eileen. Great facilities, fantastic tuition and a perfect location. I would love to thank Tony and Eileen as they are superb instructors who are fantastic at their job! I would recommend the Delph to anyone, as I certainly will be continuing to dive there.

Monday, 27 October 2008

Andy.

Totally agree Danny, been to The Delph today and have had three great dives, down to the Cruiser twice (bit dark down there, but never mind GOOD TRAINING) found the playground on the third dive which was excellent! Loved the see-saw! Had a great time!

Danny LeGrice

Dear all why oh why do some of you divers feel that you have to air your views on these message boards. Let's be honest if The Delph is that bad don't bother going again. You don't have to tell the whole world about it, are you trying to impress or just ruin it for every body else. from where i cum from if you don't like it then keep away. And let everybody else enjoy it. To be honest carn't honestly wait untill my next visit to The Delph ( Happy Diving and stay safe) All the best Danny the Delph lover xx

Re: 'Kev' Why don't you take your own advice and stay away if it's not the place for you? Leave it for the many of us who appreciate the hard work, time and money the owner has spent developing the Delph into what is a fantastic little site. The owner has gone out of his way to help me my buddies on many occasions and the guys in the shop and cafe are always helpful and friendly. That doesn't happen up the M6. Keep up the good work guys.

I originally came across The Delph to do a 'try dive' with no intentions of going forward with any qualifications. I expected a 'clinical step by step' experience but The Delph is special, I'm now AOW going for Rescue (all done with The Delph) & I've been to numerous dive centres. The Delph is the only place that has the 'personal, family' feeling. I really can't praise the Delph as much (the bacon & egg barmcake (or COB as it's rightly known from a Nottingham lad)is one of the best in the country!!

Sunday, 31 August 2008

Karl & Simon

Been twice now and enjoyed both visits. It is excellent for training as there is loads to see and plenty of training platforms. The facilities are very good and staff very friendly. Looking forward to going back and also trying the night dive there.

I've always found the Delph a nice friendly place to dive. Ok viz not always the best but great for training. I've always found the staff here a hell of a lot friendlier than certain other inland sites. would always choose the Delph for my inland diving fix

Been to The Delph and have a great days diving. Really impressed with the centre as a whole. Well done to those concerned in turning an old quarry into such a wonderful dive centre. Will be going again.

don't think staff were very friendly. terrible visibility today. really average dive site to be honest. didn't think staff were appropriate for a dive site.

Saturday, 02 August 2008

I used to dive here a really long time ago, in fact I think it was my first open water dive way back in 1973. Not dived for over 20 years now. I used to be a member of Eccleston BSAC who met at Chorley Baths and the White Crow afterwards. Just wish the Delph had been this good then, but what a fantasic place it is now. Congratulations to those that had the vision and heart to do this.

WENT TO DELPH SUNDAY 15/06 THE WATER WAS GIN CLEAR COULD'T BELIVE IT. WELL DONE TO ALL THERE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Underwater golfer

Went there yesterday, water was like crystal, you could see the bottom 10 metres clearly from the surface. Loads of fish life especially in the shallows. Nice to have a fill station right by the edge too, saves the back and shoulder! Well worth the tenner entry. Ohh and the gold balls are a bonus ;-P

DAVE GREGSON

ECCY DELPH HE WHO DARES THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT. WENT ON SAT 07/06/08 TO SEE THIS MUD BATH AS I HAVE HEARD IT CALLED. ALL I CAN SAY IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS GO AND TRY IT FIRST TIME FOR ME AND 5 STUDENTS AND 2 D/M'S COULDT BELIVE WHAT I HAD BEEN TOLD. SAVED ON THE ENRTYS, REG, AND FUEL AROUND 100 VIS WAS 15 TO 20 MTRES SURFACE, 6 MTRES DEEP 8 MTRES VIS MINI. WHEN WE LEFT DOWN TO 4 MTRES. STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY WE HAD A SLIGHT PROBLEM WITH A REG BARRY IN THE SHOP SORTED IT WE OFFERD TO PAY HE SAID PUT SOMTHING IN THE LIFE BOAT BOX CHEERS AGAIN FOR THAT. PROVES THAT DONT BELIVE WHAT YOU HEAR. THEY ARE STARTING DOING GOLF AND CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING IF THEY PUT AS MUCH EFFORT IT THAT AS THE DIVE CENTRE WE COULD NOT HAVE A CENTRE THERE IN THE FUTURE. SO IF THE RESON YOU DONT GO IS BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU HEARD JUST TRY IT, THE BLOKE THAT RUNS IT HAS HIS OWN SENSE OF HUMOUR BUT WE HARDLY SHAW HIM EVERY CLOUD AS THEY SAY. BUT WHEN YOU READ AND HEAR THINGS I THINK I WOULD BE A BIT !!!!!! OFF. MALDIVERS SSI SCHOOL

Colin

Visited Eccy today and I must say it was a pleasant suprise, the vis was pretty good, the facilities are good, staff are friendly and the setting is relly nice. I have read a lot of negative things about Eccy and the vis, all I can say is that this was my 3rd visit in around 12 month and it was a marked improvement. Money is being spent on improvements, there is plenty to see underwater, so give it a go and make your own mind up.

Friday, 22 June 2007
